This workshop is intended for multidisciplinary practitioners working with young children and families. The impact of stress and trauma on the development and well-being of young children, and their families and caregivers will be reviewed. It will include an emphasis on strategies for supporting young children and their families, including how to talk about trauma and use a ‘trauma lens’ to understand and respond to children’s behavior from a stress/trauma vs. behavioral perspective.
- Participants will understand the definition and impact of trauma on young children, their families and caregivers.
- Participants will understand the use of a ‘trauma lens’ to understand and respond to young children and their families.
- Participants will understand strategies for supporting young children’s development in the context of trauma.
