Most have immigrated since the mid-1970s from Southeast Asia to escape the effects of the Vietnam War. Historically\, the Hmong people struggle with intergenerational trauma\, poverty\, and persecution. This workshop is a comprehensive\, in-depth assessment of the Hmong American community\, their uniqueness as a culture\, their societal struggles\, and their mental health issues. Furthermore\, this course will also invite participants to become multilingual in their ability to treat patients\, as they also become more self-aware of their own cultural biases along with the biases of others. This workshop will advocate for cultural humility\, recognizing the value in each culture’s strengths\, utilizing them in the appropriate opportunities to endorse collaboration across all races\, ethnicities and nationalities.
