The Tides of Change: Implementing Early Onset Psychosis Services with a National Thought Leader
Jun 9 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

The development of early onset psychosis intervention programs has gained quick momentum in communities throughout the U.S. As demonstrated by studies from NIMH, SAMHSA, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, health care practitioners’ ability to provide thorough and effective early onset services can significantly reduce a young person’s chance of experiencing long-term disability status as a result of untreated or mistreated mental illness. To assist organizations seeking to or in the process of implementing evidence-based interventions for the treatment of psychosis, the National Council has teamed up with Senior Vice President for Behavioral Health Services at North Shore-LIJ Health System, Dr. John Kane — one of the premier national thought leaders around the academic, research and clinical programming for psychotic disorders. This webinar will examine the processes and organizational enhancement strategies to measure quality and client improvement. Join us for this webinar to learn more about service line adjustments, particularly around staff training and organizational procedures, to effectively serve youth at risk of developing psychosis.

Organizational Approaches to Effective Trauma-Informed Services
Jun 12 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
According to the largest ever investigation of associations between childhood maltreatment and later-life health and well-being conducted by the CDC, almost two-thirds of cases examined reported at least one adverse childhood experience of physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or family dysfunction, and more than one of five reported three or more such experiences. The good news is that trauma is treatable — tune into this webinar to learn about the many evidence-based models and promising organizational practices designed for specific populations, types of trauma, caring for children, and how to bring trauma-informed care to scale across service systems.

TAKING IN THE GOOD: Creating New Pathways to Joy
Jun 13 @ 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
TAKING IN THE GOOD: Creating New Pathways to Joy @ Partners in Resilience | Minneapolis | Minnesota | United States
“Taking in the Good: Creating New Pathways to Joy” is a one-day, experiential workshop inspired by the writings of Rick Hanson, PhD, the neuropsychologist who has introduced us to the exciting reality of our capacity to sculpt new neural pathways, building positive experiences that translate into well-being.
In a very real sense, we are what we experience.  Our lives, our sense of ourselves, our ideas and expectations are all created as we experience daily life.  Unfortunately, we seem to be wired to tune in to the negative; we’re often hyper-focused on what’s wrong, not what’s right, with our lives.  This “negativity bias” makes our minds “like Velcro for the negative and Teflon for the positive”.
In this day-long workshop we will practice an antidote for this negative bias – the practice of “taking in the good” as developed by Rick Hanson, PhD, author of Hardwiring Happiness.  This practice can form the basis for rewiring our habitual patterns of thought and emotion, building reservoirs of positive experience that can profoundly affect our moods, our resilience, and our capacity for joy.
