The 14th Annual Child and Adolescent Mental Health Conference held a University of Minnesota presentation series “Research to Practice: New Approaches to Diagnosis, Assessment, and Intervention in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).”  

Featured keynote speakers included Heather T. Forbes and Dr. Martha Farrell Erickson. Forbes focused a keynote address on “Helping Children Heal – Understanding the Attachment-Challenged Child, discussing how we often underestimate the impact of trauma on a child’s development.  

Dr. Erickson addressed how accepting the validity of attachment as a potent influence on development does not mean blaming the parent when things go wrong.
