Continuing on a virtual platform due to COVID-19, the 26th Annual Child & Adolescent Mental Health Conference featured a fireside chat hosted by new Executive Director Brandon Jones with guest Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble, a thought leader, psychologist, scientist, author, nonprofit founder and media contributor. 

Other featured speakers included Dr. Jean M. Twenge, Dr. Pauline Boss, PhD, and Samuel Simmons, Jr., LADC. 

Dr. Twenge presented, “iGen: The Smartphone Generation and Its Mental Health Challenges,” discussing ideas for helping children, adolescents and their parents find a better balance with technology and be healthier and happier. 

Dr. Boss presented, “The Ambiguous Losses of Youth: Resilience, Not Closure.”  

Simmons presented, “Trauma Across Generations: How Are The Children?” a conversation that provided an opportunity for participants to explore the link between the historical, racial trauma and disparities impacting African American youth.
