Nevin Huested Training & Event Center

Set in a historic St. Paul building once devoted to railcar repair, the Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health Nevin Huested Training Center was launched in 2018 as a space to promote positive mental health for all infants, children, adolescents and their families through workshops, support groups and other programming.

A great option for organizations looking to host small to medium-sized events, the space includes large windows, exposed brick, high-beam ceilings, state-of-the-art technology and free parking.

All rental fees benefit MACMH’s programs supporting families across the state.

Who was Nevin Huested?

Residing in St. Paul and living with a severe disease that caused both physical and emotional challenges, Nevin Huested wanted his estate to be used to help Minnesota children and youth with disabilities. In accordance with the directions he left in his will, the Nevin N. Huested Foundation was founded in 1961. For more than 50 years, the foundation awarded an array of grants to schools, nonprofits and other organizations serving disabled youth throughout the state.

Preparing for their dissolution, the board of directors sought an organization whose priorities aligned with those of the foundation to help carry on Mr. Huested’s legacy. Recognizing that mental health disorders—although invisible—are often just as stigmatizing and painful as physical disabilities, the foundation awarded their remaining funds to the Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health (MACMH). In 2018, MACMH launched the Nevin Huested Training Center as a space to promote positive mental health for all infants, children, adolescents and their families through workshops, support groups and other programming.
