The 10th Annual Child & Adolescent Mental Health Conference hosted Monday night events with photographer Jim Brandenburg and Musician Michael Monroe.

Featured keynotes included Dr. L. Read Sulik, Charlie Appelstein, & Bebe Moore Campbell.

Dr. Sulik presented “Understanding and Promoting Mental Health in our Children.” He discussed a thought-provoking overview of what is meant by mental health and how we can better promote the development of mental health, wellness, and even “mental fitness” in our children.

Appelstein brought ready-to-use insights and tools to make a difference in youth care. He presented “The Glass Ain’t Full, Heck It’s Overflowing!: The Power of a Strength-Based Environment in Reshaping the Lives of Troubled Children and Youth.”

Campbell created various works of art based on her personal familial experiences with mental health challenges and the treatment of those with mental health challenges. Her works include children’s story, “Sometimes My Mommy Gets Angry,” play “Even with the Madness,” and novel “72 Hour Hold.”
