Many of the early conferences, including the 6th Annual Child and Adolescent Mental Health Conference focused on the theme of “Discover the Possibilities.” This was the first year MACMH moved the conference North, to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, fondly referred to as the DECC.  

 It featured keynote speakers Dr. David Satcher and Eli Newberger. Satcher was the 16th Surgeon General of the United States. Newberger was an author, Harvard Medical School professor, and pediatrician.
